Supermarket on Commercial Drive, Vancouver. On the whole, a pretty ugly building on what is, on the whole, a visually unspectacular neighborhood main street. And yet “The Drive” happens to be the centre of one of Vancouver’s best-loved neighborhoods—another indication that good urban design is less about good facades, but more about good scale and usability.
